Research Component (Pop Art)

Pop art is the movement in art where artists began to create art with the subject of things that are iconic in nature such as famous people, advertising, and movies.

I have chosen Andy Warhol's work to analyze for Pop Art.

Andrew Warhola
1928-1987
Media calls him the "Prince of Pop"

i chose him because i love his play with colours and the simpleness of the art. here is an example of one of his works:

Campbells Soup Can, 1965

10 Marilyn, 1967

Elements of Design:
  1. Colour: his artwork is filled with vibrant colours.
  2. Form: Two dimensional form
Principles of Design:
  1. Repetition
the next Pop Art artist that i like is Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein
1923-1997
Uses familiar subjects like comic strip, bank notes or advertising themes

I also chose him because his style compared to Andy Warhol is very different. I love how his art is like comic strips. simple with occasional conversations.
    Drowning girl, 1963
    Masterpiece, 1962

Elements of Design:

  1. Form: Two dimensional illusion of three dimensional form
  2. Colour: uses simple colours
Principles of Design

  1. Texture: texture can be portrayed in an image where we can go back to our memories to feel the surface we have touched. in this case, a comic book page.
